Donald McGraw, Acadian Artist – Circle of Chiefs Paintings

Donald McGraw, an Acadian artist and painter honours the New Brunswick First Nation Chiefs with portraits. Margaret Labillois, of the Eel River Bar First Nation and Peskotomuhkati First Nation Chief, Hugh Akagi are just to name a few. Donald McGraw was inspired by the the Burnt Church incident that occurred in the late 1990s where there was lots of tension and conflict between commercial fishermen and Indigenous people. This project acts as a tribute to the hopeful friendship between the Acadians and Indigenous Peoples.
